Our essential management skills training course will provide you with everything you need to know to be a modern day manager having to juggle multiple tasks and at the same time getting the best out of your people.

If you are a manager new to the role or if you have had no formal training then our “Essential Management Skills” course will give you all of the key skills and techniques for you to be successful.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) have accredited this course so you can receive the “Essential Management Skills Certificate” by completing a short multiple-choice assessment back in the workplace. This is optional.

What do they do? How do they behave? What makes them effective? Management v Leadership – what’s the difference? What are your key responsibilities? Understanding your role

What’s Your Current Managerial Style?

Understanding different managerial styles and when to use them. Managerial styles questionnaire and exercise. What does your style mean to your team and others? How to apply this back in the workplace for maximum impact.

How To Become An Effective Coach

Understand what coaching is and what it isn’t. When should you coach? How to give feedback in the right way. Coaching models and how to apply them when coaching your people – GROW etc. Different types of feedback and coaching – formal sit down sessions and “In the moment” coaching.

Communication & Influencing Skills

How to get your point across without the waffle. Communicating in a positive and clear way. How to influence others to your way of thinking. The importance and impact of positive body language. Understanding the world according to others to communicate with them more effectively.

How To Manage Conflict In The Right Way

Dealing with conflict between others. Dealing with conflict directly between you and others. Techniques to diffuse tricky situations. How to handle difficult people.

Delegation Skills – Right Task, Right Person at The Right Time!

Why delegate? What will you achieve by delegating more effectively? Understanding the 7 ways to delegate and when to use each one.

Managing Performance

How to deal with performance issues such as lateness and sub-standard performance. Learn how to run formal sit down performance reviews. Setting objectives and creating development plans. How to keep your high achievers motivated.

Building A Highly Effective & Motivated Team

Understanding team roles and how they impact the success of your team. Team building techniques and strategies to get your team working together in the right way. How to motivate your team as a unit – what can you do? Making a difference to your team.

Time Management Strategies

Learn how to get more done in less time! How are you spending your time? The time management audit. What comes first? How to manage your “to do” list. Urgent v Important tasks and prioritising your workloads.

How To Motivate & Inspire Others

Learn how to understand the motivations of others and what drives them. Understanding people and their preferences for learning, the way they see the world, how they take in information, how they prefer to be communicated to and understand what is important to them.
